Practice VIGOR attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data and the privacy of its patients. In this privacy policy, I transparently explain how your personal data is handled, which data is collected, why it is collected, and what your rights are under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and specific Belgian healthcare legislation.

2. Which Personal Data Do We Process and Why?

As a paramedical and holistic practitioner, Practice VIGOR processes personal data necessary for your treatment and administration. Both general personal data and special categories of data (medical data) are processed.

3. How Long is Your Data Retained?

Practice VIGOR does not store your data longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the goals for which your data is collected, unless a statutory retention obligation applies. 

  • Physiotherapy Medical File: In accordance with Belgian legislation (the Quality Act and RIZIV/NIHDI guidelines), I am legally required to retain your medical file for a minimum of 30 years from the date of the last patient contact. 

  • Administrative and Accounting Data: In compliance with fiscal and tax legislation, these records are retained for 7 years. 

  • General Contact Requests: If you do not become a patient, any data submitted via the contact form will be permanently deleted after 1 year.

4. Sharing Data with Third Parties

Your data is protected under medical professional secrecy. Practice VIGOR only shares your data with third parties if it is legally required or necessary for your healthcare trajectory: 

With your referring general practitioner (GP) or medical specialist (via secure electronic networks such as eHealth or Hector). 

  • With your health insurance fund for processing RIZIV/NIHDI reimbursements. 

  • With external laboratories (only if you grant explicit consent within the context of cPNI or biohacking). 

  • With data processors (such as software providers for patient management or accounting) who have signed strict data processing agreements. Your data will never be sold or rented to commercial third parties. 

5. Your Privacy Rights

Under the GDPR legislation, you have specific rights as a patient regarding your personal data: 

  • Right of access and copy: You have the right to view your patient file and request a copy. 

  • Right to rectification: You can request that incorrect or incomplete data be adjusted. 

  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): This right is limited within the healthcare sector. Medical data subject to the statutory 30-year RIZIV/NIHDI retention period cannot be erased early. 

  • Right to data portability: You can request to transfer your file to another healthcare provider. 

     

  • Right to withdraw consent: For data processing based on your consent (cPNI, biohacking), you can withdraw your consent at any time for future treatments. 

To exercise any of these rights, please send a written request to info@praktijkvigor.be, accompanied by proof of your identity (a copy of the front of your identity card).
